“Follow the Money” offers a detailed visualization of financial flows between philanthropic foundations and art institutions. Using publicly available data, the work maps the connections between donors and recipients, with the thickness of the lines indicating the size of the donations.
The piece is part of a series of research projects that use network science to analyze the underlying structures of cultural institutions.
The installation invites viewers to actively explore these complex networks. By using a portable UV lamp, visitors can reveal the names of the institutions involved, making visible the often hidden relationships that sustain the art world. This interactive approach emphasizes transparency and encourages critical reflection on the dynamics of economic power in the cultural sector.
